In study number 4 after 1.Q4? Q9 2.Q9 K9 one reaches a position with K+N+P/K which seems draw because the pawn cannot promote. It is well known that checkmate with knight alone can't be forced but the presence of a "dead" pawn changes that!! Black can checkmate, so 1.Q4? is only a try. See this document.
